SALES ASSOCIATE, part-time

Moore County ABC Store is hiring a PT Sales Associate to work up to 20 hours per 6-day work week including days, nights and weekends.

PRIMARY TASKS:

• Assist customers with product selection, questions, and recommendations.

• Maintain working knowledge of controlled beverage industry, products, and regulations.

• Greet, interact, and monitor customers to ensure a positive shopping experience and assist in loss prevention.

• Assist with merchandise displays and organization.

• Ensure the sales floor remains well-stocked, maintained, and clean.

• Model exceptional customer service.

• Respond to customer inquiries and refer complaints as necessary.

• Process sales transactions, handle cash, and process credit card payments.

• Follow safety, health, and security policies and procedures.

• Enforce alcoholic beverage laws regarding selling to underage or intoxicated persons.

• Participate in unloading merchandise from truck, storing items, and organizing it properly.

• Notify management of needed repairs and safety hazards.

• Support, in action and speech, the stated goals of the organization.

• Perform other duties as required.

• Hand truck

• Box cutter.

• Broom/mop

• General tools

• Bar code reader equipment

• Magnetic stripe readers & encoders

• Personal computers

• POS software & terminal

• Inventory management software.

• Microsoft Office software

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or GED required.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in retail management. Special consideration given to those with experience within the ABC system.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing exceptional customer service.

• Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services.

• Ability to keep a calm and professional demeanor, especially in stressful situations.

• Ability to speak, read, and write English in a capacity sufficient to perform the tasks of the position.

• Ability to discern product codes and names and complete various inventory forms.

• Ability to count cash and make appropriate changes.

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure.

• Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.

• Must be able to perform heavy work exerting 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently, and 20 pounds constantly.
