The Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapy Tech dual role will include a combination of both roles. The employee will assist athletes with injury recovery, injury prevention, and general development and maintenance of health and fitness as well as assist the Physical Therapists with patient care aspects when in the clinic where appropriate and in clinic operations as well as serves as a member of the clinic team.

  1. Conducts an initial assessment of an athlete's injury or illness; determines whether athletes should be referred to physicians for specific diagnosis and treatment.
  2. Evaluate, diagnose, and complete return to play for concussions following the NCHSAA concussion protocol.
  3. Provides first aid or emergency care when needed.
  4. Bandages, tapes, or applies ice to injured body parts as needed for specific injuries.
  5. Assists athlete in performing and completing rehabilitative exercise.
  6. Evaluates the readiness of athletes to play; approves participation in sports when appropriate.
  7. Provides instruction concerning and demonstrates proper use of equipment.
  8. Provides information and instruction to coaches, athletes, parents, medical personnel, or interested members of the community regarding care and prevention of injuries.
  9. Implements comprehensive illness and athletic injury prevention practices.
  10. Travels with athletic teams to sporting events to be available as needed.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

  1. Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field required
  2. Athletic Trainer License and/or Certification
  3. CPR certification
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  5. Thorough understanding of injury treatment and prevention
  6. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
  7. Must be able to carry, pull, push, and lift equipment necessary for care
  8. Must be able to perform duties required as an ATC
