Public Works Specialist

The Village of Whispering Pines (VWP) is seeking an energetic and self-motivated individual for the position of public works specialist.

The duties of this position consist of maintenance of public grounds and parks, road maintenance including right of way vegetation control, storm water management, lakes and dams’ maintenance and other duties as assigned by the Public Works Director.

The successful candidate shall possess a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid North Carolina driver’s license, experience performing manual labor particularly in landscaping and grounds maintenance and the operation of related equipment and vehicles. The VWP is a drug free employment environment, and all applicants will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal background check. Applicant must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and other employees.

This is an entry level full-time position with an annual salary of $32,918. A competitive benefits package is also provided, including: medical, dental, vision and prescription benefits, State retirement, 401(k), vacation, sick, short-term disability and life insurance.
